Welcome back friends. Today’s episode is going to be a little different. Instead of diving into a leadership lesson or career strategy, I want to talk about the power of taking a step back.
Sometimes, the most important move you can make in your career – and in your life – is to pause, reflect, and realign before moving forward. And that’s exactly what I’m going to be doing with this podcast.
Why Pausing Matters
As a leader, you were probably taught to keep pushing, keep producing, and keep showing up without stopping.
But the truth is, nonstop momentum isn’t always progress.
When you don’t take the time to pause and reflect, you risk:
- Drifting into work that no longer aligns with your goals.
- Missing opportunities for growth because you’re too busy ‘doing.’
- Burning out instead of building up.
Think about it like this: Even athletes build rest and recovery into their training plans, because without that pause, their performance eventually declines.
Leadership is no different. Pausing is not weakness – it’s wisdom.
I’ve seen executives crash because they tried to power through when what they really needed was a reset. And I’ve also seen leaders thrive when they took time to step back, evaluate, and then return with clarity and confidence.
Executive Reset Workshop
Before I share more about why I’m pressing pause, I want to make sure you didn’t miss last week’s episode. I talked about something that’s really connected to today’s message -the power of a reset.
In that episode, I introduced my upcoming Executive Reset Workshop, where I’ll walk you through a structured process of stepping back, clarifying what really matters, and creating a plan to move forward with purpose.
If today’s conversation about pausing and realigning is resonating with you, you’ll definitely want to go back and listen to that episode. And even more important – make sure you grab your spot in the workshop.
This isn’t just about taking a break – it’s about creating intentional space to reset your career and leadership so you don’t end up stuck on autopilot. Click the link in the show notes or DM me on LinkedIn to get more details.
My Own Pause
And I’ll be honest with you – I’ve reached one of those moments myself.
Over the past 44 episodes, this podcast has been an incredible journey. It’s allowed me to share stories, lessons, and insights with all of you.
But I also want to make sure the work I do here is serving the people who need it most – and aligning with where my coaching practice is heading.
So, I’m going to take a pause. Not a goodbye, but a purposeful pause. During this time, I’ll be reflecting on a few key questions:
- Who am I truly called to serve?
- What topics will be most valuable to them right now?
- And what’s the best format to deliver that value?
I want this podcast to continue to be meaningful – not just another piece of noise in your feed. And taking this pause allows me to step back, gain clarity, and come back stronger.
And of course, I value you and your feedback. So please don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email or Linked In and share your comments with me. I’ll put my contact information in the show notes and you can also find it on my website, www.hrhigherversion.com.
Inviting Listeners to Reflect
Here’s where I’d like to turn it to you. Just as I’m pausing to reflect, I’d love for you to do the same in your own leadership journey.
This week’s challenge is simple, but powerful:
Take 15 minutes and ask yourself three questions:
- What’s working really well for you right now?
- What feels heavy, draining, or out of alignment?
- What one small shift could move you closer to where you want to be?
Write your answers down and keep them where you’ll see them. Because the act of pausing, reflecting, and naming those truths is the first step toward growth.
And who knows – this small practice might be the reset you need, just like this podcast pause is for me.
As I take this pause, I’d love for you to join me in doing the same. If you haven’t yet listened to last week’s episode about the Executive Reset Workshop, go check it out – it’s a perfect companion to what we’ve talked about today. And don’t forget to register for the workshop itself.
I’ll be walking you through the exact tools and exercises I use with my private coaching clients to reset their vision and align their next steps. You’ll leave with clarity, focus, and an action plan.
Again, the link for more details is in the show notes.
Closing
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. I’m grateful for every download, every message, and every connection this podcast has created.
While I take this pause, I’ll still be sharing insights on LinkedIn and through my email subscriber list – so make sure we’re connected there.
And when I return, it will be with renewed energy, clarity, and purpose.
Until then, remember this: Pausing isn’t quitting. It’s preparing. And sometimes, that preparation is the most powerful leadership move you can make.
So keep leading, keep growing, and keep striving for that next higher version of yourself.
